As You Like It Summary

As You Like It is a romantic comedy about love, identity, and finding freedom away from the constraints of court life.

The story begins when Rosalind, the daughter of the banished Duke, is forced to flee the court of her uncle Duke Frederick. She escapes into the Forest of Arden with her cousin Celia, disguising herself as a young man named Ganymede for safety.

Meanwhile, Orlando, a young nobleman who has fallen in love with Rosalind, is also forced to flee his cruel brother Oliver and ends up in the same forest.

In the Forest of Arden, several characters gather, including the exiled Duke Senior and the melancholy philosopher Jaques. Orlando hangs love poems about Rosalind on the trees. Still disguised as Ganymede, Rosalind playfully offers to “cure” Orlando of his love by having him pretend she is Rosalind during their meetings.

Through misunderstandings, disguises, and humorous interactions, multiple love stories unfold. In the end, identities are revealed, conflicts are resolved, and several couples marry, including Rosalind and Orlando. Duke Senior is restored to power, and harmony returns.
